No Thanksgiving is complete in my family without some overly sweet dessert-like sweet potatoes! This recipe is sure to delight everyone from the youngest to the oldest. The combination of brown sugar, butter, cloves, and ginger gives the sweet potatoes an almost decadent flavor. Tasting Guidelines: Taste is very sweet. Weight is medium. Texture is soft. Good for people with low to moderate treatment side effects. Emotional response of a delicious holiday dessert. Best categorized as traditional American.
Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe
Equipment
- potato peeler
- large casserole baking dish
- Cutting board
- Chef's knife
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs. sweet potatoes peeled and cut evenly into quarters
- ½ c. butter or margarine
- 1 package marshmallows small marshmallows
Flavor Balancers:
- Kosher salt
- brown sugar
Aromatics:
- ½ tsp. ginger ground
- ½ tsp. vanilla
- ½ tsp. cloves
Instructions
- Mix butter and peeled, cut sweet potatoes thoroughly in a casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees F until sweet potatoes are fork tender, about 45-60 minutes. Remove from oven. Mash sweet potatoes thoroughly. Mix in brown sugar, honey, vanilla, ginger, and cloves. Smooth mashed sweet potatoes into pan. Thoroughly top with marshmallows. Return to oven until marshmallows are lightly golden brown.
